Thsi was my first visit to Sculapasta Ristorante. We had reservations, but they were busy and couldn’t find it, so we ended up having to wait at the bar for an hour. These things happen and it gave the gf and I some time to talk. When we were finally seated, the waitress (who, yes, maybe could have been nicer, but it looked like she was pretty busy) hurriedly took our order and was off. I didn’t get a chance to order a bottle of wine, I should have mentioned that this was my 1 year anniversary, I was going to bring it up later in the meal, but, I realized that I had had a drink at the bar, so maybe that was enough. For a starter we shared the carpaccio. We both agreed that it tasted a bit off. The shaved parmeggiano and capers that accompanied it were delicious. For the main course, I had the Vitello Saltimbocca and my girlfriend had the Pollo Milanese. They initially brought us the wrong entrees (there must have been a table mix up), so I’m guessing that was why our entrees were cold. My girlfriend said we should send them back, but our waitress was nowhere in sight, so I convinced her to just go ahead and eat it. While I would have preferred a warmer entree, I could definitely taste how it would have tasted were it hot and I must say, that it would have been good. We opted to skip dessert and head home. It was supposed to be dinner and a movie, but we spent too much time at the restaurant, and missed all of the showings.
Sure there were some bumps along the way, but I don’t think it’s fair to judge on one visit. If they just worked on their front of house, service and food, then I think Sculapasta Ristorante would be one of the best in Buffalo. I gave it 4 stars because it has the potential to be a 4 star place.
